Iraqi Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi said a senior officer of the 10th Division in Anbar Province has been set aside for his failures and not being able to respond to the demands of war, Al Jazeera TV reported on Saturday night, August 22nd.
This expulsion was announced in a Defense Ministry statement also emphasizing army operations west of Samarra will continue.
The decision to set aside this army commander followed the killing and apprehension of dozens of members of the Popular Mobilization Force and Iraqi army troops in an ambush by ISIS 18 kilometers west of Ramadi.
