US House Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the most senior House Rep. from the State of Florida expressed deep concern over missile attack on Camp Liberty. In a letter to the US Secretary of State, Ms. Ros-Lehtinen wrote:

Dear Secretary Kerry:
I’m writing to you to express my strongest condemnation of the recent reported attack on Camp Liberty and its residents, which occurred on Monday, July 4, 2016. I have previously written to you on many occasions to express my concern for the safety and security of the residents of the Camp and to condemn the persistent vicious attacks against them.
As you know, more than 50rockets were fired indiscriminately near the camp and its residents. Fortunately, there were no deaths, but a number of residents were injured. It is particularly troubling that this attack was reportedly carried out by militias affiliated with the Iranian regime. It is also disturbing to hear that Iraqi officials have been preventing the delivery of critical supplies such as food, fuel and medicine to the residents at Camp Liberty once again.
As I have noted in previous letters, the Camp residents were guaranteed their safety by both the UN and the Iraqi government in the Memo of Understanding (MoU) of December 25, 2011. The Iraqi government committed itself to providing the safety and security of these residents but, to date it has not lived up to its obligations. I urge you to call on the government of Iraq to immediately investigate this horrendous attack and to use all measures to prevent any further attacks on these defenseless residents until it can ensure the safety that these residents have been promised repeatedly. I would also request that you call upon the Iraqi government to honor its obligations under the MoU and ensure the safety of the residents, and that you hold the Iranian regime accountable for its support for these continued and unprovoked attacks.
