I bring you greetings from the United States. I am Congressman Ted Poe from the great state of Texas. We as a group of nations must protect those freedom fighters from any harm. We know the history of Maliki government. He and his army came charging into Camp Ashraf this year and killed many residents, unarmed residents. Is that his intention after December 31st? To disperse the camp? To kill the residents that are left? We cannot take that chance.
Soon Mr. Maliki and President Obama will meet together here in Washington, D.C. I hope the President of the United States, the most powerful country on earth, discusses the safety of the freedom fighters of Camp Ashraf and makes sure that they will be safe after December 31st and let Maliki know that he will be held responsible for any crimes that are committed against these good residents, these good people at Camp Ashraf. It is important that we take the moral obligation to secure the safety of these residents and hopefully someday that these freedom fighters along with other good people in Iran will remove their totalitarian government that Ahmadinejad, the little tyrant from the desert had stolen the election, will be removed by the people of Iran, including the folks in Camp Ashraf, those freedom fighters.
So to those residents, to those people in Iran who wish to have freedom and take over their own government, I encourage you to be faithful, to be strong, to be courageous because the nation of Iran belongs to the people of Iran, not to the little tyrant in the desert. It’s not his country, it belongs to the long history of the people who have lived there and it is the United States’ responsibility and a responsibility of the free world to make sure that these good people at Camp Ashraf will see freedom and liberty come to their home country of Iran.
Thank you very much.
