The Azzaman and Al-Iraq al-Yoom dailies published the letter of more than 1000 of Iraqi chieftains and tribal sheikhs to the US Secretary of Defense in which they asked for eviction of the mullahs’ regime and emphasized on the PMOI’s role in revelation of Iran’s meddling.
The letter reads: Today, the nature of those who won the majority by rigging in the elections, misuse of democratic mask, and by lying and deception under the cover of national reconciliations, that are used to cover the death squads’ atrocities, has been revealed to our people, and will no more deceive anybody; thus our people find the solution in new elections and in abrogation of previous ballot-rigging which has brought about the present disaster.
Addressing the US Defense Minister, the letter continues: You are aware that the Iraqi tribes have played an important role in keeping the country’s social structure and territorial integrity. While governmental organs and institutions are under influence and domination of the Iranian regime and particularly its Quds Force, and are practically employed against Iraq, the tribes and their leaders were the ones who prevented the society from collapse and fall, and operated as an obstacle against terrorism and spread of sectarian sedition. This matter explains the reason for the Iranian regime’s hostility toward the patriotic sheikhs and its efforts to limit their role through regime’s agents in Iraq.
The signatories of the letter added: The nationalist and democratic movements in Iraq have proved through their joint nationalist positions that they are able to form a national government having Dr. Ayad Allawi at its center to lead Iraq out of the present crises. They also enjoy support of Iraqis from all political, religious and ethnic stratums.
The United States should not dedicate its political support for currents that represent the interests of the Iranian regime and its terrorist organs. The most important help to establish stability and democracy in Iraq and its people is to acknowledge ‘the need for change’ in favor of a democratic and non-sectarian alternative, and to end the rule of Iranian regime and its agents in Iraq after the just ‘terrorist designation’ of the Quds force and the IRGC.
