New Europe, April 12, 2016 – The European Union must work with Iran’s Democratic Resistance Movement led by Maryam Rajavi, according to Jan Zahradil, a Czech member of the European Parliament who is critical of politicians supporting concessions to the Iranian regime.
In a statement published online by the National Council of Resistance of Iran, the MEP said there has been no substantial change within the Iranian regime and that the regime is still based on religious fundamentalism, and it is on a massive break of basic human rights, and that this is unacceptable.
“However there are still politicians and political parties in European countries that are able and ready to make concessions to that regime; some of them because of business, some because of oil, some because they think Iran could be an ally against the so-called Islamic State,” said Zahradil. “I think that this is a misunderstanding and this is an absolutely wrong analysis. I think we have to insist that human rights should be kept in Iran [and] we have to work with exiled opposition.”
MEPs have expressed their support for Rajavi and the NCRI’s 10-point plan for a free Iran.
