Sky News TV conducted an interview on Sunday with Shiite cleric Alame Ali al-Amin of Lebanon on Iran’s interference in Arab countries.
Sky News described Alama al-Amin as one of the senior religious scholars of Najaf who believes in a civil state and is completely against a religious theocracy, similar to rule imposed by the mullahs in Iran.
“It is due to political interests that Iran is supporting the Houthis [in Yemen]. Iran is looking for areas to infiltrate to be able to place its own groups into power… when there was a dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Iran supported Armenia despite the fact that the people of Azerbaijan are Shiites… in war amongst countries one must not be looking for religions. In fact, interests are important and Iran is looking for its own interests in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iraq,” he explained in his remarks.
