Iran to Equip Syrian Rockets with Chemical Warheads

The British magazine Jan’s Defence weekly reported from sources in Syrian Defense Ministry that in a blast on Jun. 26, 2007, apart from 15 Syrian military personnel, a number of Iranian rocket system engineers were also killed in a weaponry arsenal in the Syrian city of Halab.

Syrian defence ministry sources Jan’s Defence that the blast happened during a test to outfit a Scud-C rocket with mustard gas (chemical weapon). As a result of explosion and circulation of mustard gas which caused the explosion of other chemical gases stored in same place, a number of Iranian engineers were inflected by severe burns and injures.

At the time of explosion, Syrian news agency reported 50 people were injured because of blast of very highly explosive substances. The Jan’s weekly wrote Syria is trying to equip its rockets with chemical warheads and extend their range and power with the help of Iran.
