
During inspection routine under the pretext of “Bazar and goods oversight”, on women’s and men’s clothing shops, a group of inspectors of the Ministry of Guidance started an inspection round on Mohsen Shopping Center at Imam Hussein Sq. in Tehran on Saturday checking on shops selling women make ups and other luxury items harassing them under the pretext of Mullahs’ self-made dress codes, while their true aim was to plunder and force the shops to pay them bribes. They emphasized on the markings on the clothes and foreign company manufacturing labels accusing the shop owners of aiding the so called “cultural attack” slapping fines on them.
After inspecting a number of women’s wear shops and retail stores who were selling perfume and men’s colognes, the shop owners began to get annoyed and quarrel started between the shops and boutique owners and the inspecting teams.
Following the drop in the oil prices and crash of the value of Iranian currency in respect to the dollar, the Rouhani government has resorted to extortion by charging small businesses of hefty fines to cover his budget deficit by sending teams under the pretext of inspectors to shopping centers to fine these businesses.
