During the past two weeks, the terrorist Qods Force has increased its weapons and ammo smuggling into Iraq through border passages in the Basra, Wassit, Maysan and Diyala provinces, Asharqia TV revealed citing a senior Iraqi security official.
“Iranian-made missiles similar to Grad, weapons equipped with silencers and large shipments of ammunition were found among the weapons,” Asharqia reported quoting the security official on the condition of anonymity. “Caching and warehousing weapons and ammo is currently taking place continuously in different regions of Baghdad and Basra.”
This security official warned on the increasing influx flow of weapons and ammo from Iran to Iraqi soil along with special units to conduct assassinations and plant IEDs. He went on to emphasize that the current security situation is related to Iraq’s political conditions and the readiness of the IRGC’s Qods Force to perform widespread attacks to lean the political scene towards its own path of interest.
“Maliki’s government is completely aware of the transfer of weapons and ammo and special groups from Iran into Iraq,” explained this security official. “However, no orders have been given to security institutions and armed forces to confront the infiltration, confiscate or destroy the weapons caches and arrest the individuals responsible of transferring weapons, ammo and explosives into Iraq from Iran.”
