We demand humanitarian conduct towards residents of Ashraf and Liberty: Iraqi MP

Wessal Salim, Iraqi MP and member of the Parliament Human Rights Commission called for humanitarian conduct towards the residents of Ashraf and Liberty.
“We demand humanitarian conduct towards the residents of Ashraf and Liberty and no forcible behavior that are against human rights standards,” Salim said. “In my opinion as an MP and member of the Human Rights Commission such conduct is unacceptable.”
“We have not seen the site where Ashraf residents have been transferred to, and in the future we will visit this place on behalf of the Human Rights Commission,” he added. “This subject will be raised in the commission.”
“From the remarks made by Iranian regime officials, their intervention in Iraqi affairs is quite clear,” Salim continued. “We reject any intervention in Iraq. Ashraf residents must be treated according to international human rights standards because they are refugees in Iraq. We will truly try to have their voices be heard. They are refugees among us and this is their right for the location they live in to be adequate and providing human rights, not taking into consideration their nationality. In my opinion, they would not seek refuge in Iraq if there was not a climate of repression in their country.”
