
On the 49th day of New York sit-in of the supporters of the Iranian Resistance outside the UN headquarters, the letter of Tom Tancredo, senior member of the Foreign Relations Committee and Republican from Colorado to the UN Secretary General regarding Ashraf protection was read.
Then the Amnesty International call for protection of Ashraf under the international law was read. In this call A.I. urge all its members and activists in the world to write letters to the MNF-I Commander and remind the obligation of the Iraqi and US governments in that regard.
Then the letter of the progressive priest Gay Benson from northern California addressing UN Secretary General was read in which he emphasized that Ashraf residents are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention; he asked UN Secretary General to adopt immediate measure for the well-being and security of Ashraf residents and emphasizes that they must be kept under the US force protection.
At the end, a delegation of the Ashraf residents’ families delivered the letters of support in defense of Ashraf residents that were gathered in northern California to the bureau of UN Secretary General.
