
In an interview with the Al-Sharq daily, Iraqi Vice President Tareq Al-Hashemi emphasized following the overthrow of Assad’s regime by the Syrian people, the season of change in Iraq will arrive with a popular revolution and the Iran Spring is also in the making.
Iran placed pressure on all political parties and trends seeking a no-confidence vote against Maliki, he said. A few months ago, when a coalition was built between Iraqiya, Kurdistan and the Sadr movement, Iran placed enormous pressure on all parties to back down from their request for a no-confidence vote against Maliki, Al-Hashemi continued.
“Being an Arab has now become a crime in Iraq, while I speak in Arabic and neglect what Iran says,” he said in reference to Iran’s meddling in this country. “Who disclosed Iran’s infiltration into Iraq? I did.”
On the role of Quds Force commander Ghasem Soleimani in Iraq, the Iraqi Vice President said he is appointed directly by Khamenei. He is in charge of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon and has the key to resolve the situation in these three tremulous countries, he added.
“The entire region is undergoing changes and developments, and maybe after the changes in Syria, these developments will transfer to Iran, because conditions there are not consistent like the past. There are signs of divides and rifts and maybe the Iran Spring is in the making,” he continued
