In recent remarks wired by the state-run Fars news agency, Revolutionary Guards commander Jafari admitted Quds Force agents being present on the ground in Lebanon and Syria.
“From day one since the Quds Force was established, these units have been active. Right now there are IRGC Quds Force units in the countries of Lebanon and Syria,” Jafari said.
“It is the pride of the Islamic republic to transfer our experiences to Syria,” the IRGC chief added.
In response to a question on possible foreign military attacks to overthrow the Syrian dictatorship, Jafari said with caution, “This issue depends on the conditions. Right now I cannot exactly say that if the international community attacks Syria, Iran will then respond with military support. This completely depends on the conditions.”
“If war takes place in the region with the US and the West on one side, it is natural that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and oil exports will change,” Jafari said, again threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz.
