
Iran, September 16, 2017 – Around 2,000 Iranian pensioners started a continues protest gathering on Saturday, September 16, 2017, in front of the Talar Vahdat (Unity Hall) in Tehran to demand their pension salaries.
The gathering, which was pre-organized and called for in advance, included pensioners from major Iranian provinces including Isfahan Province, The Central Province, Southern and Northern Khorasan Provinces, Razavi Khorasan, Gilan, Mazandaran, Kermanshah, Tehran, and Alborz provinces.
According to eyewitness reports from the demonstration, the number of protesters increased almost by the hour.
The protesters were chanting slogans including “enough of cruelty and injustice, our dinner table is empty”, “so much injustice in an Islamic regime”, “we will not leave until our rights are restored”, “our problems will be solved if embezzlement is stopped”.
The protesters also carried a large banner with their slogans written on it.
The suppressive State Security Forces surrounded the protesters in order to prevent others joining them.
