Syria: rebels advance in Hama

The armed Syrian opposition group Fatah Army has recently taken control over the towns of Ziyara, Mansoura and Tal Waset in the Sahl al-Ghab region near Hama, Orient TV reported on Monday, August 31st.
The Assad regime is attempting to gain control over these regions due to the fact that its logistics lines would be cut off from Latakia.

In battles during the past few days a few positions switched hands between the Assad forces and the rebels. However, the rebels have been able to launch new operations and make major advances towards the city of Jorein where the Assad forces’ main base in this region is located. This base is now in the range of the rebels weapons.
