Iran: internal disputes flare in parliament over insulting government food basket plan

A wave of popular protests and fury over Rouhani’s insulting government sponsored food basket plan has escalated disputes inside the regime’s Majlis (parliament).
Majlis member Iraj Nadimi referred to the 5 million rial income set as the standard for receiving these food baskets and said, “Is the country’s poverty line set at 5 million rials? Then what becomes of people like the unemployed and the graduates looking for job who have no income at all?”
Majlis member Fatollahi raised concerns about this measure by Rouhani’s regime that has raised labor protests.
“The question that has correctly been raised by workers is if they cannot receive free government support due to their low income, then for what group of people has the government set this support for?” he asked.
