In an interview with France 24 TV, Dr. Sanabargh Zahedi, chairman of the Judicial Commission of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: The only way to confront the Iranian regime’s threats is to rely on the Iranian people and Resistance for a democratic change.

Dr. Sanabargh Zahedi: The new US measure is an essential measure which has taken place with delay. The Iranian regime has always taken benefit of such delays in taking positions due to the Europe’s negotiations and IAEA’s negotiations, and has continued its activities to produce nuclear weapon. This regime also tries to expand its meddling to all region countries including Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan and other countries.

I should remind that Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance President-elect, welcomed this measure because we in the Resistance believe it is necessary to adopt a decisive stance against the Iranian regime’s positions, either against its extensive suppression inside Iran or against its efforts to acquire nuclear weapon or against its meddling in other countries. Of course, these measures should evolve to a measure for a change in Iran, because the situation in Iran necessitates that. The Iranian people don’t want this regime; many groups inside the regime have stated that 94 percent of the Iranians don’t want this regime and demand a regime change; therefore the internal situation is ready for this change. If we look at internal events in Iran, we see that Iranian universities are chaotic; demonstrations have taken place at Tehran and Polytechnic Universities, and earlier, we were witness to uprisings for gasoline rationing and other issues . These demonstrations are going on. This means that Iranian people don’t want this regime, but what does the regime do? It suppresses these demonstrations. You know that since July, over 170 people have been executed, 30 percept of whom hanged in public.
