Gulf Cooperation Council – Statement
“Abdol-teif bin Rashed al-Ziani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, said confessions made by Iranian-American citizens Manssor Arbabsiar on being involved in planning to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador in Washington Adel al-Jabir is a major development that this criminal plot has failed and revealed those participating in it.”
“What the suspect revealed in the US court regarding the involvement of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in this conspiracy places those involved in this plot against a legal and political dilemma before the international community,” al-Ziani added in this statement issued yesterday.
The suspect’s confessions are an important step to disclose the details of this plot, al-Ziani added, reiterating that diplomatic laws and customs consider attacks on diplomats and diplomatic delegations as crimes and terrorist acts that are against the law and moral and humane values.
Establishing equal relations between the Gulf countries is based on the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, mutual respect, not targeting one’s neighbor and abstaining to bring about harm against them and the whole region, the GCC Secretary General explained.
