Ahmadinejad attended a press conference Tuesday evening after visiting the famous al-Azhar University in Cairo, Al Jazeera reported on February 5th.
While Ahmadinejad claimed the renowned al-Azhar sheikh approved Iran’s positions, the sheikh’s representative announced in a statement Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayeb has actually called on Iran to refrain from further bloodshed in Syria, stop interfering in Gulf countries and respect the government of Bahrain.
The statement states the al-Azhar sheikh emphasized to Ahmadinejad his complete opposition with Shiite interference in Sunni countries and rejects such measures.
During the press conference when the sheikh’s representative was reading the statement, Ahmadinejad began to impose pressure on the al-Azhar representative through his escorts to prevent the representative from revealing the al-Azhar sheikh’s remarks during their meeting. All of this took place before camera and was broadcasted live.
Therefore, the press conference became a huge embarrassment for the mullahs’ president and revealed his lies.
