On the eve of his visit to Tehran, Maliki takes suppressive measure against Ashraf Residents
Saleh Mutlaq calls for putting an end to the disgusting and inhumane measures

Dr. Saleh Mutlaq, General Secretary of Iraqi National Movement, described the new move by Iraqi security forces against Ashraf residents and the establishment of new check point inside a demilitarized camp, and the use of weapons to beat and intimidate people as provocative acts and as a down-payment by Maliki to the clerical regime ruling Iran for his imminent visit to Tehran.
Dr. Saleh Mutlaq, leader of National Dialogue Front and one of the leaders of al-Iraqia faction, attributed the intensification of the siege on Camp Ashraf, home to Iranian refugees, to the visit to Iran by a Prime Minister whose term is over.
Mutlaq told al-Malaf net that all Iranian officials’ visits to Iraq or all Iraqi officials’ visitsto Iran result in intensification of the siege on the Iranian refugees in Camp Ashraf. Mutlaq described the siege on Ashraf as being disgusting and inhumane. The Iraqi leader expressed his surprise over the way Maliki’s government is treating the people in Camp Ashraf who have a cause and said that the solution is in stationing the UN Monitoring Team and the U.S. forces in Ashraf in order to prevent a new catastrophe. He stressed that they are Iraqi people’s guest and it is against the Arab’s and Iraqis’ tradition to assault their guests. Mr. Mutlaq called for respect for the presence of the Iranian refugees in Iraq, their protection under International Law and Geneva Conventions, and lifting the siege on them.
