Jordanian MP Dr. Ali Al- Dhalaiin sent a message to Ashraf residents calling for end of the siege imposed on Camp Ashraf and the Iraqi government to recognize Ashraf residents’ rights under the Fourth Geneva Convention. The message reads:
The Iranian regime is attempting to take advantage of the period of power vacuum and the lack of any legitimacy in Iraq to suppress the residents of Ashraf. They are also attempting to issue false arrest warrants to detain the PMOI members and lay the grounds for an attack on Camp Ashraf.
Therefore, we are asking the UN to live up to its legal and historical duty in safeguarding Ashraf and guarantee the following matters:
-Continue the presence of US forces in Ashraf to protect the residents
-Abrogate the cruel siege enforced on Ashraf
-Compel the Iraqi government to put an end to the psychological torture of Ashraf residents by the Iranian regime’s proxies stationed at Ashraf’s main gate
-Abrogate the illegal decisions against Ashraf residents
-Recognition of Ashraf residents as ‘protected persons’ under the Fourth Geneva Convention
-State the Iraqi government has not abided by the Fourth Geneva Convention and the European Parliament Resolution will be upheld
