Clashes in central Tehran as opposition stage protest

Iran Focus, Tehran, 15 June 2010 – Renewed clashes erupted Tuesday between plain-clothes security forces and several dozen opposition supporters in central Tehran, with anti-government protestors chanting “death” to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The hit and run skirmishes took place at 17.15 local time in Ferdowsi Avenue and Foroughi junction, as several dozen opposition supporters chanted “Allah-o Akbar”, or God is the greatest, and “death to Khamenei”. Plain-clothes agents were seen fleeing the area.

By the time police reinforcements arrived, protestors had dispersed.
