9th week of worldwide demonstration for ending Ashraf siege

In the ninth week of the international protest against the pressures and limitations imposed by the clerical dictatorship on Ashraf residents, Iranians and families of Ashraf residents held demonstrations in Paris, Stockholm, and Washington in front of the Iraqi embassies.

In Paris demonstration on Friday, May 15 with participation of families of martyrs and families of Ashraf residents, Pierre Bercis, Chair of New Human Rights Society of France delivered his speech and said: “There are many associations and foundations that support you and you are not alone at all; one of the characteristics of your resistance that I have known over 30 years is that you always have something new and avoid obsolescence; despite all the hardships and difficulties, you are full of hope. Your activities are very effective and you have gained many victories and this could have not been achieved unless by your steadfastness and untiring efforts”

Mrs. Zinat Mirhashemi, member of the NCRI and editor of the Nabard-e-Khalq publication, said in her speech: “We shall not let even a shred of Ashraf residents’ rights be trampled; this resistance has stood for years and will continue to stand and will be victorious.” She added: “In the Iranian regime’s election show, all the candidates have proven their nature in killing, torturing and suppression of the Iranian people. This election is doomed to failure.”

In Stockholm, supporters of the Iranian Resistance and families of Ashraf residents in Sweden staged a demonstration outside the Iraqi embassy in Sweden and asked for ending Ashraf siege and limitations imposed on Ashraf residents.

In the US, the demonstration of Iranians on its 107th day was held initially in front of the Iraqi embassy in Washington and then outside the White House. The demonstrators expressed their support for Ashraf residents and asked for ending Ashraf siege and removal of the PMOI from the terrorist list of the US State Department. They asked the US government to act to its commitment regarding Ashraf protection and to confront pressures imposed by the clerical dictatorship ruling Iran, and to assume protection of Ashraf city based on international laws and conventions.
