A strong earthquake has hit the country’s highest peak causing huge rock-slides. The 6.0 magnitude trimmer hit Mt. Kinabalu Friday morning local time. An official says 138 climbers were on the peak at the time.
Video posted online shows snow and rocks falling from the summit.
30 mountain guides have been sent to help stranded climbers. There is no official word yet on any casualties, but Malaysia’s Prime Minister expressed concerns for victims.
