
The International Trade Union Confederation issued a statement on Tuesday, September 29th condemning increasing crackdown against workers in Iran during the past few months.
Iran is using the charge of “measures against national security” to justify its crackdown on legitimate activities carried out by labor organizations.
According to the International Trade Union Confederation official website in recent days Ali Nejjati, a member of the Board of Directors in the Haft Tappeh Neishekar Company Workers Syndicate has been arrested.
Furthermore, Mahmoud Salehi, member of the Coordinating Committee in Support of Forming Labor Unions, was condemned to 9 years in prison in a Sanandaj court, western Iran.
A number of teachers’ rights activists have been arrested and jailed recently, the report added.
