Iran: Sattar Beheshti murderer relieved with very light jail sentence

The Iranian regime has carried out a kangaroo court for Akbar Taghizadeh, the murderer of blogger Sattar Beheshti, with a very slight punishment for the vicious crime he committed. Based on a so-called verdict, this murderer has received only 3 years in jail, 2 years in jail and 74 lashes. It is crystal clear that none of these punishments will be carried out.
“The court hearings they carried out were not acceptable at all. My son was killed under torture. This ruling will encourage other murderers,” said Sattar Beheshti’s mother.
The Associated Press referred to this sham court and wrote, “The 35-year-old Beheshti was not a well-known activist but his death in police custody attracted global attention.”
Sattar Beheshti was arrested on 30 October 2012 and murdered under torture by Iranian regime authorities 4 days later.
