Residents of Al-Maamel, south of Baghdad took part in a large demonstration protesting the separation of Baghdad. Local sheikhs and dignitaries said the increasing number security check points are dividing the capital. One of the noble sheikhs said Maliki cronies are sneaking weapons through these check points.
On Saturday dozens of Iraqi jurists protested against the raid on their offices by the Maliki forces threatening to go on strike and stop working in all courts throughout Iraq.
