During the past weeks, many cases of the Cholera disease has been reported in Karaj’s Ghezel-hessar and Gohardasht prisons (west of Tehran), showing a dangerous spread of this lethal disease. Based on reports from the Ghezel-hessar Prison clinic, 3 cases of cholera has been found in this prison. Furthermore, investigations in the Gohardasht Prison found one case of cholera.
In Gohardasht Prison, every week there are many cases where the water of the prison is found to be unpurified. This issue has raised protests by the prisoners, yet there has been no action to resolve this problem.
