Asharqiya TV, July 4, 2010- Iraqiya leader Saleh Mutlaq said: Today the world is deeply worried about the Iranian regime’s widespread meddling in Iraq’s internal affairs. These interventions must be stopped.
In his interview with Asharqiya TV, in response to a question regarding his view on Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Iraq, Saleh Mutlaq said: No one likes the intervention of a foreign party in the formation of the Iraqi government, yet after different factions failed to agree on a government formation process… the international community is more than anyone responsible in finding a solution… The Americans have decided to pull out of Iraq but it’s not right to withdraw at a time when a political vacuum still exists.
Regarding the winning blocs in the recent elections, Dr. Saleh Mutlaq said: Let me tell you explicitly that the Iraqi national plan is symbolized in the Iraqiya bloc and whoever joins this bloc in forming the government, has a genuine Iraqi identity and not a sectarian one.
In response to a question regarding the withdrawal of US forces while the Iranian regime is still present in Iraq, Dr. Mutlaq said: Today the international community it deeply concerned about the Iranian regime’s widespread meddling in Iraq. It believes that these interventions have passed limits and must be stopped. Otherwise, Iraq will be managed by the Iranian system; the same system that has imposed much tyranny upon the Iranian people, and if this system continues its work in Iraq, not only will it bring tyranny on Iraqis, yet it will spread throughout the region and in such a scenario the entire region will be at risk of destabilization. The presence of US forces in Iraq does not mean they are enforcing the Americans’ will on the Iraqi people, rather it is an effort to reduce the interventions of the Iranian regime in Iraq.
