A number of political prisoners in the notorious Gohardasht Prison, in the city of Karaj, northwestern Tehran wrote a letter to Dr. Ahmed Shaheed, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, shedding light on a tip of the iceberg of the inhumane treatment they are enduring in this facility.
This letter was sent on March 26 of this year, reading part:
“The crime of the prisoners dispersed into various wards by force, including Misters Iraj Hatami and Fareed Azmoude, were only their support and approval of human rights violations reports issued by the U.N. Human Rights Council.
Despite the pressures imposed on a daily basis by the prison counterintelligence unit on these prisoners, they launched a hunger strike from day one and are now held in concerning conditions.”
