February 12 was the anniversary of the martyrdom of Mohammad Mokhtari, an activist who was killed after he was shot by the security forces during a peaceful demonstration in Tehran.
Families and friends of Mohammad including a well-respected Dr. Mohammad Malaki, the first Tehran University president after the 1979 revolution participated at the gathering.
Mothers of prisoners and relatives of other 2009 uprising victims also attended this memorial, expressing their sympathy and perseverance in this regard.
Mohammad Mokhtari was born in September 10, 1989, and lost his life as regime agents opened fire on the demonstrators during the popular uprisings following the controversial 2009 sham elections.
