Iraq: names of suspects in Mosul file

In Iraq a parliamentary committee has called for the prosecution of 36 political and security officials, including former prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday, August 16th. This parliamentary committee holds these individuals responsible for Iraqi forces fleeing Mosul and ISIS taking over this city in the second half of 2014.
The fact-finding commission, established 8 months ago, in its report on the army fleeing Mosul cited testimony provided by military officers who said Maliki ordered the army to withdraw from Mosul. This report also holds the following individuals responsible for the defeat in Mosul:
– Former Neinawa governor Athil al-Nujaifi
– Former defense minister Sa’doun al-Dulaimi
– Farough al-Araji, chief of staff of the commander-in-chief
– Army chief of staff and his deputies
– Commander of the ground forces
– Commander of Neinawa police
