
Millions of Iraqis took to the streets on Friday in 11 districts of Baghdad and 17 cities in various provinces across the country, chanting slogans against Maliki and Iran’s meddling in their country.
The districts of Yarmouk, Ameriya, Qazaliya, Taremiya, al-Khazra, al-Mansour, Diwaniya, Seyediya, Addoura, al-Azamiya and al-Salikh in Baghdad, along with the cities of Ramadi and Falluja witnessed massive demonstrations.
The cities of Samarra, Tikrit, Zalouiya, Biji, Sharqat, Eshaqi, Addoura in Salahaddin Province; the cities of Kirkuk and Huwaija in Tamim Province; Mosul in Neinawa Province; and the cities and towns of Baquba, Jalula, Meqdadiya, Qara Tape and Baladruz in Diyala Provinces were also scenes of popular protests.

Satellite TV stations such as al-Jazeera, al-Sharqiya, al-Rafedein, Baghdad and al-Taqeer provided live coverage of the demonstrations. Al-Jazeera TV reported the rally in Ramadi was the largest held to this day.
In Mosul, protesters set ablaze the Iranian regime’s flag in a show of their hatred of the mullahs’ deadly and destructive meddling in their country. In Ramadi, protesters carried a symbolic coffin covered with the Iranian regime flag. Following slogans against mullahs’ regime, angry protesters trampled coffin on the ground.
According to al-Taqeer TV, the Mothana Brigade prevented the entrance of three Iraqiya MPs Ahmad al-Massari, Hamid Zobaie and Mazhar al-Janabi to the Khan Zari district where they intended to take part in the Abu Gharib demonstration. Al-Taqeer also reported Maliki’s forces surrounded the Abi Hanifa Mosque demanding ID cards from those taking part in the Friday prayers.
Another source informed al-Taqeer TV a wave of arrests was carried out by Maliki’s forces in Baghdad’s al-Seyediya and Ameriya districts.
