INTV, 9 Nov 2013 – PMOI member Jafar Ne’matollahi, a resident of Camp Liberty on hunger strike, fainted twice in one day alone. He was taking a walk when he suddenly fainted. His friends immediately took Jafar to a medic and he received the necessary initial medical care. After a number of hours and while it appeared he had revived a bit, the medic staff transferred Jafar back to his resting quarters. He once again fainted in a more severe fashion and the medics present at the scene took the necessary action to normalize his conditions.
A member of the Liberty medic staff said: “Mr. Jafar Ne’matollahi had fainted before and we were always concerned about his conditions because he has lost 20 kilograms of his weight, meaning 25% of his original weight, and suffering from internal bleeding in the abdomen. This time that he fainted it was very severe and it has made us particularly concerned. Fortunately, currently his conditions have relatively stabilized with the medical care that has been provided, but we have advised that he refrain from any movements because considering his severe weakness he will most probably enter another shock.”
Another medic said, “Amongst the other hunger strikers we have cases similar to that of Jafar and even those who are in more critical conditions. We are continuously on alert that God forbid nothing happens to them. But not everything is in our hands and we warn the international organization that can take action to end this status to actually take action before it is too late.”
