Sudan completely ended its diplomatic relations with Iran, according to a report issued by the al-Ray al-Am daily on Tuesday, December 6th. This government ended its mortgage of the Sudanese Embassy building in Tehran and sold all its belongings. There is no longer any hope of these assets being returned, according to this daily.
On the other hand Iran’s embassy in Khartoum has been closed and placed under intense security. These developments are taking place at a time when Iran and Sudan were involved in ongoing projects. The water station project for the Wadmandi and Um Maqed districts, valued at $28 million, has now been halted.
