
The Lebanese Hezbollah confirmed five of its mercenaries were killed in battles around the city of Zabadani, east of Damascus, Orient TV reported on Monday, August 31st.
Another group of these mercenaries by the name of the ‘Persian Gulf Battalion’ said three of its members had also been killed recently. Hossein Mohamed Hossein, Ali Beidhoun, Rai Hassan and Abbas Saghir are amongst the senior Hezbollah militants killed more recently in Syria.
Hezbollah also confirmed six of its elements were killed in other battles in Zabadani. This included a war reporter for the al-Manar TV station associated to Hezbollah by the name of Abed Ali Jawad.

On the other hand eyewitnesses near the Syrian capital reported a heavy battle between Syrian rebels and Hezbollah members on the Damascus international highway near the town of Basatin and Beit Sahm.
Rebels in the Jobar neighborhood were also able to destroy an armored personnel carrier and dozens of Assad’s troops in these battles. An armored vehicle was also destroyed by the rebels using missiles near the Jobar neighborhood.
The Assad regime has attempted time and again to take control of the Jobar neighborhood, but each it has suffered heavy casualties and been forced to retreat. The Jobar neighborhood is located east of Damascus.
