Widespread demonstrations against corruption in Maliki’s government

INTV, 5 Oct 2013 – Widespread demonstrations erupted on Saturday in numerous Iraqi provinces against the corruption flaring in Maliki’s government.
According to al-Rafedein TV, Maliki’s special forces known as ‘SWAT’ used force to disperse the demonstrators from Baghdad’s Tahrir Square, also arresting many of them.
Furthermore, massive demonstrations were staged in the cities of Najaf, Karbala, Babel, Ziqar, al-Mothana and Diwaniya, where protesters demanded retirement salaries for heads of the three branches and Iraqi MPs be revoked.
