Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar University rejected trip to Iran and opening Al-Azhar branch in Iran

The Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar University in Egypt, Mohamed Sayed Tantawi, rejected the Iranian regime’s request for his trip to Iran and opening a branch of Al-Azhar University in Tehran.

Al-Yawm website belonging to Saudi Arabia wrote: The President of Al-Azhar University, while opposing trip to Iran, emphasized that he would never make a trip to Iran.

Tantawi added: The Iranian regime must burn the film it had produced against Anwar Sadat. This regime must remove the name of Anwar Sadat murderer from Tehran’s streets and cease these measures which have no relation whatsoever to religion.

Tantawi added: As long as this film is not burned no relation between Al-Azhar and the Iranian regime would be established because this film is not only an insult to Anwar Sadat, rather to all Iraqi people.
