Iraqi association calls on UN to impel Iraq on lifting siege on Ashraf-Liberty residents

The Center of Studies for Development and Human Rights in Iraq issued a statement calling on the United Nations to compel the Iraqi government to lift the siege enforced on Ashraf and Liberty residents.
This center condemned UNAMI’s inaction, under Martin Kobler, in face of the violation of Ashraf and Liberty residents’ rights.
“The UN delegation in Iraq takes no action in face of the aggressions carried out against this organization, including the remarks of Maliki’s National Security Advisor Faleh Fayaz and the accusations expressed in order to gain the mullahs’ consent,” the statement reads.
“Therefore, it is necessary for the UN to impel the Iraqi government to stop these accusations and lies against the PMOI and refrain from imposing pressures and inflicting inhumane behavior against Ashraf and Liberty residents,” the text continues.
“The UN should also declare Liberty as a refugee camp and guarantee freedom of movement, open access to medical services and the procurement of necessities and supplies,” the statement concluded.
