On Wednesday 26 Nov. 2008, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance met with Berlin’s Parliament Speaker and some representatives from different parliamentary factions and discussed with them situations in Iran, Iranian Resistance, and City of Ashraf.
At the entrance to Berlin Parliament, Mrs. Rajavi was welcomed by Walter Momper, speaker of the parliament, and a number of representatives. Also supporters of the Iranian Resistance who had gathered outside the Berlin Parliament welcomed Mrs. Rajavi.
At the beginning of the meeting, Walter Momper welcomed Mrs. Rajavi and emphasized that the Berlin representatives support the Iranian Resistance’s goal for obtaining freedom. He said:” We condemn violation of human rights and suppression of women and youth and various sectors of the Iranian people and support the Iranian Resistance’s positions; we are aware of your agenda and plans and programs of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) about restoring women’s freedom rights and obviation of gender and ethnic discrimination, and support it.”
Mrs. Rajavi expressed her pleasure for meeting with representatives of Berlin people and said: “Berlin, particularly with its historical background and its resistance against Hitler, has a symbolic and historic importance for us. This session indicates the attention of Berlin Parliament to the necessity of a democratic change in Iran. The Berlin Parliament hereby is sending the message that it is standing by the Iranian people for acquiring freedom.”
Mrs. Rajavi added: “I speak to you on behalf of the people who are under ruthless suppression of a religious fascism; meanwhile, the ruling mullahs are engaged in a growing war against the world community; through efforts to acquire nuclear bomb and reaching their missiles’ range to Europe, the mullahs threat the whole world.
Unfortunately West has blocked the Iranian Resistance for bringing about a democratic change and by unjust designation of the PMOI in the EU terror list cooperates with the mullahs in suppression of the movement. We were able to prove illegitimacy of this labeling in European courts. Yet, due to appeasement policy with mullahs’ regime, EU decided to maintain it.”
Reminding the misuse of the clerical regime of that labeling for intensification of suppression, torture, and execution in Iran and conspiracy and hitting blow to Ashraf City protection, Mrs. Rajavi called on the Berlin Parliament representatives to defend the Ashraf residents’ rights.
Mrs. Rajavi dedicated a copy of index of 20,000 martyrs of the PMOI that is part of 120, 000 martyrs of the Iranian people against religious fascism and also a special medal of Ashraf City to the speaker and representatives of Berlin Parliament.
