Iraq: popular demonstrations continuing against corruption

The people of the town of Dajil in Salahadin Province continued their demonstrations against corruption on Saturday, al-Baghdadiya TV reported.
The protesters are demanding implementation of the reforms announced by Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi in a specific timing, emphasizing there must be no delay in this regard. They went on to demand the prosecution of all corrupt figures who stole from the people.
Iraqi MP Ashwaq Jaf, Member of the Human Rights Commission called on the government to make clear the reasons why there have been delays in implementing the demonstrators’ demands.
Iraqi MP Ashwaq Jaf also called on the government to begin holding the leading corrupt individuals accountable, without any consideration of their former or current posts, and they should be handed over to justice.
