Yemen: battles flare across the country

The blows inflicted by the popular resistance forces on Houthi militants continue across Yemen. Battles in the city of Ta’izz have intensified, Al Arabiya TV reported on Thursday, September 2nd. Popular resistance forces have been able to take over a number of Houthi positions in the Marwar region and are attempting to gain control over the Dhabab valley area.
As a result of continuous artillery fire on residential areas by the Houthis a large amount of damages have been imposed on people’s property and assets, said the spokesman of popular resistance forces. Nearly 50 mosques, infrastructures and service facilities in this city have been destroyed by the Houthis, he added.

On the other hand, Arab coalition warplanes launched major airstrikes on positions held by the Houthis and troops of ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah in the Bab al-Mandab area, killing and injuring dozens of their ranks and files.
Arab coalition warplanes are continuing to inflict severe blows to Houthi militants in the strategic Hilan heights in Ma’rib Province. Moreover, a convoy of Houthi militants in the Haradh area bordering Saudi Arabia was completely destroyed.
Coalition Apache gunships have for the first time carried out attacks in the oil-rich region of Asilan and Bijan in Shabwah Province. These attacks were launched on Houthi positions and their caches of weapons and ammunition.
