Teachers in Birjand, east of Iran, demonstrated on Thursday, April 16, 2015 to protest low wages and job insecurity. This demonstration was concurrent with a nationwide teachers’ protest that is ongoing in some 20 cities in Iran. The protesting teachers chant “Our salaries are one third of the poverty line” and “Better living condition is our inalienable right.”
They also demanded the expulsion of Education minister, Mr. Fani.
The teachers were chanting “Fani, get out of the ministry” and “Our silence is not our consent.”
