First, I want to say that I have been an admirer of the Persian culture for many many years. The Iranian culture is a beautiful culture; the country is a beautiful country. Its people are hardworking, well-educated, smart and very tolerant, so that throughout history, Persia has been a place for people who were seeking refuge could come. And we Jewish people, Joe Lieberman and I know that, because when the temple was destroyed in Israel, the Jewish people were given refuge by King Cyrus in 570 B.C. So there has always been a link and today Iran is still the people are so vibrant. And we could set them free from the awful dictatorship that they have, they be a beacon of strength, not only in the Middle East, but in the whole world. The people would do so many good things, and so I am committed to doing everything I can, first: to preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon that would be a devastating thing.
Second: to doing everything we can to give the Persian people the freedom they deserve, so they would blossom like a tree, a beautiful tree in the Middle East doing wonderful, wonderful things. I know how many of you have gone through hardship, and together we all make an alliance to see that Iran and great Persian culture is free from a brutal dictatorship, and flowers once again. So thank you for having me here, I look forward to work with you in the future.
