A number of labor unions in Iran, including the Iran Free Workers Union, the Kermanshah Electricity & Metal Workers Labor Union, the Coordination Committee in Support of Establishing Labor Unions, Haft Tape Sugar Cane Workers Syndicate, Center of Labor Rights Activists and others issued a joint statement on the minimum wages and salaries set for the new Iranian calendar year (March 2016 to March 2017).
“We the independent unions in Iran’s labor movement declare the minimum wage and salaries must be according to a decent human life based on modern and conventional standards, and above the poverty line… We workers see it our right to carry out any measures deemed necessary to have this very important issue addressed,” the statement reads in part.
