Reports from Syria indicate the Damascus International Airport has been closed for the second straight day and Assad has dispatched reinforcements to this airport. FSA sources say fighters have reached within one kilometer of Damascus airport after gaining control over the Maraj al-Sultan military airbase and two bases belonging to the 555 and 666 battalions located near the capital.
Military experts consider the Damascus International Airport as an important and vital center for Assad, receiving all its necessities on a daily basis through planes landing from Tehran and Moscow.
