Water shortage in 517 Iranian cities; warning for 37 million Iranians

Rouhani’s Deputy Energy Minister in Water Affairs said Tehran and other major cities are facing drinking water shortages in the near future.
“Arak, Isfahan, Shiraz, Ghazvin, Qom, Karaj, Kerman, Mashhad, Hamedan, Yazd and other cities are also facing the threat of drinking water shortage,” Rahim Meidani added.
“Tehran and 10 other major Iranian cities are facing drinking water shortages,” the state-run Mehr news agency reported citing this official. “To provide drinking water in the summer we are facing a shortage of 38 cubic meters of water every second”, he added.
“Currently 37 million people across the country are facing drinking water shortages, and this is 50% of the population,” Meidani concluded.
