Saudi Arabia intends to file a complaint in the International Criminal Court against Iran over the plot to assassinate its envoy in the US, the London-based Al Arab daily reported.
Informed sources who asked not to be named said obtained information show Saudi Arabia is looking to file a complaint against Iranian officials in the ICC, this daily added. By sending a request to the US, the kingdom has asked Washington to deliver all the information revealed by the Iranian-American suspect Manssor Arbabsiar.
The ICC can in this regard issue a ruling in favor of Saudi Arabia, this source wrote citing a number of legal experts, referring to the prosecution of suspects in the bombing and US passenger plane explosion over Scotland’s Lockerby region.
Prosecuted in the US, Arbabsiar confessed he planned to assassinate the Saudi envoy in the US under orders from senior Iranian officials.
