Italian Committee of Parliamentarians and Citizens
Rome, 21 April 2014 – The Italian Committee of Parliamentarians and Citizens condemns the ongoing new wave of crackdown and torture of political prisoners in Iran and also the increase of executions (over 700 under Rouhani’s presidency).
On April 17th Iranian Ministry of Intelligence agents along with around 100 Revolutionary Guard members conducted a heavy attack against inmates of ward 350 – a number of the supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.
At least 30 of those injured are in critical conditions and 32 transferred to solitary confinement with brute force. Protesting this attack these inmates have been on hunger strike ever since on April 18th.
The Italian Committee of Parliamentarians and Citizens joins the urgent call made by Amnesty International and calls for an impartial investigation into these recent events. We announce our solidarity with the prisoners of the Iranian Resistance movement, condemn continuous human rights violations and call on the United Nations and European Union to impel the Iranian regime to respect international conventions.

New Human Rights – France
The New Human Rights – France condemns the violent attack on Thursday, April 17th against political prisoner in Evin Prison that left a number of inmates injured and many transferred to solitary confinement.
According to eyewitnesses, the violence was especially used against People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran supporters and they were nearly beaten to death.
Violence against defenseless political prisoners is another sign of the deteriorating human rights conditions ever since Hassan Rouhani’s presidency. The New Human Rights organization, in voice with the European Parliament, condemns the increasing crackdown in Iran and calls on the European Union to take into consideration human rights in all its relations with Iran, as stated in the recent European Parliament resolution.
The New Human Rights organization calls for the immediate release of all political prisoners in Iran and for judicial follow ups by an international judicial organization against human rights violations ongoing for the past 35 years in Iran.
Western governments, and especially France, are obligated to strongly react against the horrible human rights situation in Iran and condition any political and economic relations with this religious dictatorship to stopping executions and improving human rights conditions in Iran.
