As more US forces are arriving at Fort Habbaniya in Al Anbar Province of Iraq, militias forces known as the Popular Mobilization Forces – associated to Iran – are retreating from the cities of Ramadi and Fallujah, Al Arabiya Al Hadath TV reported.
A military cargo plane carrying 160 American soldiers and armored military vehicles entered the Habbaniya airbase located east of Al Anbar Province, Asharq Al Awsat daily reported.
US forces have for the first time since entering Al Anbar Province in July have recently begun conducting patrols in the al-Khalediya and al-Habbaniya districts, Al Arabiya Al Hadath reported citing security sources in Al Anbar.
In addition to arming tribes in two bases of al-Habbaniya and al-Baghdadi with advanced weapons, the US forces are also focused on conducting scheduled airstrikes in Al Anbar, the source added.
